Causes of Oily Hair

Causes of Oily Hair. Some people have very oily hair types that make the hair look limp or no shine. Actually what is the cause of excess oil in hair?

Oily hair will look like a clot and dirty, even when someone has just washed. In addition greasy hair is also sometimes encountered when a person does not wash his hair in a long time or more than 3 days.

Actually in the follicles (sacs) are hair roots and sebaceous glands that secrete sebum (oil that helps keep skin and hair moist and shiny). But in some people certain levels or excessive oil is higher than others.

Oily Hair

Oily hair not only makes the unsightly appearance, but also lead to other problems such as dandruff, acne on the scalp and hair loss. If you have bangs, it can cause or aggravate existing acne on the forehead.

The cause of oily hair is caused by overactive sebaceous glands that make oil content in the hair becomes redundant. Some things are known to affect the activity of this gland in removing sebum, namely:

Hormonal changes
Hormonal changes that occur when someone is experiencing puberty, menopause, stress or taking hormonal medications (eg oral contraceptives) would make the hair become more oily. During puberty, hormones in the body including the turbulent androgens, these hormones control the function of the sebaceous glands that make a person more oily hair. Oily hair due to hormonal changes usually only temporary.

Genetic
Some people tend to have oily hair and skin that is genetic. This condition will make someone have a more oily hair than others throughout life.

The environment
Environmental factors such as heat or humidity will make the hair more oily. Besides external factors such as sweat, smoke and even excessive makeup will make your hair look greasy greasy. And use of products that are not designed for oily hair types will tend to compound the problem.
